Black Miss USA Defies Democrats
At first glance, one would think the new Miss USA, Kára McCollough, would be instantly enshrined in the pantheon of liberal heroes, judging by all of the leftist identity boxes she could check off, but after straying from the liberal orthodoxy on health care and feminism, she became a virtual outcast within moments.
According to The Washington Post, McCollough is a black woman representing the District of Columbia. She was born in Italy and is a nuclear chemistry scientist at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. She also works to encourage school-aged girls to follow her steps into the fields of science, technology, engineering and math, all things that should make every liberal proud.
Yet, when it came time for the question and answer portion of the pageant, she was asked whether she believed affordable health care was a right or a privilege. Apparently she choose the wrong answer.
The New York Daily News reported that McCollough replied, “I’m definitely going to say it’s a privilege.”
“As a government employee, I’m granted health care,” she continued. “And I see firsthand that for one, to have health care, you need to have jobs, so therefore we need to continue to cultivate this environment so that we’re given the opportunities to have health care as well as jobs for all Americans worldwide.”
Leftists on social media immediately registered their disapproval of her answer in no uncertain terms, with some insinuating that she had claimed poor or unemployed people didn’t deserve health care, while most simply publicly withdrew their support of her as if she had instantly become the worst person in the world … like, totally on par with President Donald Trump or Hitler. Seriously, that bad.
